Hegemony Through Endless Wars

Until yesterday, mainstream and alternative media alike were parading experts—usually well-known—marking the four-year anniversary of the war in Ukraine. There was no real conclusion, except that the conflict continues until exhaustion—or until the last Ukrainian falls, or the Russian Federation collapses. Only a few dared to say the most important thing: this war did not even start in 2014. It was already on the West’s strategic maps immediately after the collapse of the socialist bloc. The proxy war, by soft or hard means, unfolded on a far broader front, practically across all former socialist states of the Eastern Bloc (even Yugoslavia was destroyed for the same reasons). Everything that remained—every trace of socialism, every peaceful form of coexistence—had to be erased.

What we are sold as a transition to liberal democracy is in fact a deliberate erasure of the memory that an alternative world—socialist, anti-imperialist—was possible. They divided us, split us into competing parties, and taught us to blame our neighbors for our misery, not the oligarchs or the militarist complex. The war began the moment Gorbachev was deceived. Since then, we have lived under the illusion that peace is possible through peaceful means, while monsters lurk before us.

Today, the story of Ukraine and its enormous human cost—sacrificed not to defend Ukraine, but to destroy Russia—is already overshadowed by what is happening in Iran and West Asia. And in that long shadow of Western military interventions lie forgotten graves, known and unknown, in countless countries: from Yugoslavia to Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Cuba, Venezuela…

The pattern is clear. Ukraine was a testing ground for Western militarism: a proxy battlefield where the West pushed Russia to the brink while sanctifying its own geopolitical expansion. Iran is the next test. Gaza was a rehearsal. Each conflict follows the same logic: create chaos, impose control, justify aggression, profit from destruction. The bell tolls not only for those under the bombs—it tolls for the entire world. The West is cultivating a culture of perpetual war, a war machine with an inexhaustible appetite.

The risk is no longer regional. Europe is already a battlefield in proxy terms; West Asia now teeters on the edge. Israel and the U.S. are signaling that no nation challenging their hegemony is safe. Nuclear stakes are rising. The logic that drove Ukraine’s proxy war now extends directly toward Iran. And it is not only Ukraine and Iran: the strategy, the weapons, the sanctions, the proxies, the embargoes—they are all being deployed against the Global South. Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia—the entire Global Majority is now under the threat of Western militarized coercion.

Civilian deaths in Gaza provoke no outrage; Ukraine is sanctified. The hypocrisy is staggering, the calculation clear. Peace is optional when profits and dominance matter more than human life. Every drone strike, every bomb, every “sanction” or embargo is a message: defy the empire and pay the price. Those who still imagine diplomacy as a shield against this system are living in fantasy.

Ukraine, Gaza, Syria, Libya, Cuba, Iran, —they are connected by the same machine of militarized imperialism. They are not isolated tragedies. They are rehearsals, warnings, and now active theaters of a war against the Global South—the Rest, the Global Majority. This is a war to impose hegemony, extract resources, dictate politics, and enforce obedience. The next conflagration could engulf the world, and humanity might have no time to react.

If there is still a fragment of reason left in this world—which now resembles the Titanic—then what is needed is a mutiny on the Bounty. A collective refusal to accept war as inevitable, to reject the empire’s claim to decide who lives and who dies. Humanity must act before escalation becomes irreversible.
